Asia’s IPO market remains resilient

29th July 2011

HONG KONG (Dow Jones Investment Banker) – In contrast to the lackluster European IPO market, new listings in Asia have continued unabated in the first half of this year. And while some 40 deals have been pulled on account of market volatility, year-to-date volumes are close to those in 2010. Asia has remained largely immune to the macro events affecting the EMEA region. Healthy growth rates have continued to fuel consumption and infrastructure stories, and local exchanges have benefited from innovation and aggressive marketing.

Reuters article

19th July 2011

I was interviewed by Reuters’ Asia Equity Capital Markets correspondent Elzio Barreto for an article published on 18 July on listings by introduction in Hong Kong.

This follows listings there by four companies without issuing shares over the past three weeks, and the article mentions that such transactions are seen as “expensive advertising”.

Irish Chamber of Commerce presentation

4th July 2011

On 15 June, I gave a presentation at Club Lusitano in Hong Kong on IPOs. The presentation was organised by the Irish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, in co-operation with the Finnish and Norwegian Chambers, as well as the Australian and Singaporean Chambers of Commerce there.

I have set up this blog to report notable events on international IPOs.

These include particularly remarkable transactions, changes in market practice (whether pertaining to documentation, valuation or marketing techniques) and regulations, as well as appointments in the sphere of equity capital markets (ECM).

Although the blog has a bias towards the Asia-Pacific region, since this is where I am based, it is intended to be global in both its scope and outlook.

Please use the contact form above to report an IPO story or an ECM development.
